My name is Sam Tansey and I am a British Makeup Artist based in LA, with over 12 years of experience in Film, Television, Commercials, Music videos and Events. Working on such a variety of projects has allowed me to refine my craft particularly in beauty, character and prosthetic makeup as well as wigs, hair pieces and men's grooming.

Originally from a small beach town in England - I had always loved playing with makeup from a young age, where I would volunteer my friends to sit and let me paint their faces whether it was a beauty look or more suited for halloween. I studied my BA honors in Film and Television at Southampton Solent University and actually thought I wanted to work in production - how wrong was I?

After a few years of that I packed my bags and went to Cinema Makeup School in 2012 and trained as a Makeup and SFX Artist. After graduation I returned to London to start my career and managed to obtain some incredible opportunities, which then led me to making the move to Los Angeles in 2019, a move I am so grateful for as it has expanded me as a artist and person, plus the year long sunshine definitely helps.

Since graduating Cinema Makeup School, I have continued with education in my craft and attended courses at Neill Gorton’s studio, Pinewood studios in London and various other workshops hosted by industry leaders both sides of the pond. I love learning and evolving my craft plus you can never have too much knowledge!

Telling stories through makeup has always been something that has inspired and compelled me as an artist, an aspect I never get tired of. Nothing feels better than seeing the person who is in my chair utilize my design for character development of their role or just to simply feel more confident and beautiful in their own skin.

I am a UK passport and O1visa holder - always more than happy to travel, as well as a proud member of The Television Academy.
